Abstract
ON THE GEORGIA TRANSLATION OF ORHAN KEMAL'S NOVEL NAMED “HANIMIN ÇİFTLİĞİ” (“KALBATONİS MAMULİ”)
Experience in the field of translation shows that this function of translation, which is extremely important for the world of communication, has a positive effect on the perception mechanisms between communities in the process. However, communication problems due to linguistic differences lead to a suspicion of loyalty between the translator and the writer in the context of the efficiency of translation. Does the translator literally transform the author’s imaginary world where he expresses himself freely to another language, or does he intervene in the author’s imagination? In spite of this question, which is the main source of translation problems, we can talk about the difficulty of ensuring it by adhering to the cultural equivalence between the source language and the target language having socio-cultural differences as well as linguistic differences in translation. Therefore, it is an undeniable reality that such a development will help to facilitate and increase the communication between the Turkish and Georgian cultures, which are not far from each other.
In this study, it is examined how the original work of Turkish has been translated to Georgian language and also to what extent the translator has transferred his knowledge of field, subject and language to the target language.
At the end of the research, it was observed that the translator generally adopted a source-language-oriented translation approach and firstly took the source language culture into consideration when translating. It was stated that form and content should form a whole since the work we are studying is a literary work.
